Week 16 Matchups
Phoenix can blame themselves for their loss- Playing Eli Apple over Jalen Ramsey and George Iloka over Tavon Wilson were both catastrophic decisions. Going the other direction, (or playing Antonio Gates in a plum matchup) would have been the difference between victory and defeat. Alas!
The Moosecrew take the bronze on the season, and the silver in terms of weekly scoring: Their 267.83 was the second highest weekly score of all time. Jordy Nelson scored 38.3, Aaron Rodgers 35.48, Travis Kelce 33.3, Josh Norman 32.35, and Odell Beckham 24.3. Pawnee fell in back to back weeks for the first time this season despite a quality performance highlighted by Jay Ajayi (38.3) and Doug Baldwin (36.2).
Malibu takes the third pick in next year's draft, winning handily thanks to Mark Ingram (25.9), Dak Prescott (24.68), and Malcolm Butler (22.15). Savannah was burned by top pick Allen Robinson this year, but he did have a nice 22 point game in the finale; Tom Brady (19.76), Jordan Howard (18.7), and Thomas Davis (17.0) also did their parts.
HCM is the Consolation champ, nabbing the top pick in next year's draft. Colin Kaepernick (23.34) was dynamic once again, his up and down resurgence surging. Landon Collins was the best player on the field once again (19.50) a defensive wizard that should be the first safety off the board next year. Sammy Watkins had his finest game for the 'Quatch, dropping 30.4; Along with JJ Nelson (26.6) they provided the fireworks. Assuming the Lead Farmers don't 'do the Julio' first overall, Mr Jones should land back in Saskatoon in exactly eight months, on August 27th, 2017, for Larkspur Bowl IX.
