VIII: Week Fifteen Results

And then there were two.
Larkspur Bowl VIII will be a rematch of 2013's Larkspur Bowl LBV:
#2 Hill Valley (8-5) vs #5 Phoenix (8-5)

Week 15 Matchups

#1 Pawnee falls to #5 Phoenix

With Melvin Gordon and Luke Kuechly shelved, the 10 win Pride were a shell of the team that surged to the top of the standings this year. Eric Berry (21.5) did his best to will the top ranked squad into the finals, but Eli Manning (15.24), DeAndre Hopkins (14.2), and Sebastian Janikoski (15.5) could only do so much to stop the bleeding. The Uprising got huge games from Jarvis Landry (22.2), Carson Palmer (21.32) and Alshon Jeffery (19.4) on offense, while Kwon Alexander (30.5) was everywhere, leading a defense that also featured playoff superstar Kurt Coleman (22.35) and Telvin Smith (19.0). Pawnee can look to blame Jay Ajayi (6.8), WR Brandon Marshall (2.4) and Justin Houston (0.00) during the long, cold off season- but they do have a third place game to play, FOR GREAT HONOR.

#2 Hill Valley defeats #6 Manitoba

Manitoba gave it a real go, but ultimately dropped to Hill Valley on the other side of the bracket; Hasean Clinton-Dix was incredible for the Crew, (25.65) but nobody could stop McFly RB Shady McCoy (34.6) in this one, as he made play after play. Golden Tate (20.4), Cam Newton (18.8), Michael Thomas (15.9), and Kyle Rudolph (15.2) were weaponized artillery in support, and Crew WRs Jordy Nelson (20.1) and Odell Beckham (17.83) just couldn't keep up with the fireworks. Sean Lee (15.0) and Jonathan Cyprien (21.0) wer eon mop up duty for a defense that will play for third place next week. Meanwhile, Alec Ogletree (22.9) and CB Steve Nelson (17.0) will prepare to follow up on their big games in the biggest game of them all: LBVIII.

#3 Islanders fall to #4 Deputy
After falling asleep at the wheel in the first round, Deputy stars Drew Brees (31.66), RB David Johnson (26.1), LB CJ Mosley (17.5), and CB Bash Breeland (17.0) woke up in time to salvage the fifth place game. The Islanders didn't show much gumption past RB Zeke Elliot's continued pursuit of the rookie of the year award- he scored 33.2 in this one. For their efforts, the Van Halens will draft 9th overall next year, the Islanders tenth.

#7 Saskatoon defeats #10 Savannah
A slow motion affair with little fanfare saw the Sasquatch roll over the Petes on the legs of RBs Ryan Mathews (25.0) and Terrance West (20.0), giving QB Matty Ice plenty of space to surgically dismantle the Savannah defense; The South's rookie RB Jordan Howard made his case to push for the rookie of the year award too: 23.3 points in a lost cause, but that was about the team's only burst of initiative in this one.

#8 Malibu falls to #9 HCM City

WR Brandin Cooks pulled out all stops in this one, going off for 41.9 to help secure a top two pick for the Lead Farmers in 2017; RB Bilal Powell (27.8) and CB Dom Rodgers-Cromartie (23.5) both did their part in overcoming the Deadbeats as well. Tahir Whitehead (19.0), Cameron Brate (17.3), and Dak Prescott (18.96) were nobody's lottery picks last August, but all three have proven themselves contributors. RB Lamar Miller (19.2) and DE Cameron Wake (17.6) were both stellar in a losing effort, and will play for the third pick in the draft next week.

#11 Toronto falls to #12 South Park

South Park finally rounded into championship form at the end, but it was far too late to defend their title. Instead, they finish in 11th place, securing the fifth pick in next year's draft thanks to Russell Wilson (21.6), Le'Veon Bell (20), King Suh (18.5), Logan Ryan (21.8), and Keanu Neal (19.5)'s contributions. For LTP the 12th place finish is a franchise worst, and beyond captains Andrew Luck (21.3) and Lawrence Timmons (18.8) it was unclear that this one mattered to anybody in Toronto (It's Hockey season!) who will draft sixth overall in 2017.
