Trade Review: Scenery Swap

Trade Twenty-One: California/Flint

The ten day trade embargo has been lifted, as Flint dealt from its cornucopia of running backs, sending RB Trent Richardson to California for WR Ted Ginn Jr. Neither player has put up great numbers, and Richardson has been particularly disappointing: As a first round pick, he has struggled to contribute, scoring single digits a week for the past month. The writing was on the wall: RB Zac Stacy would succeed him as starter going forward. Still, with the scant depth around the league, you have to wonder if a healthy, workmanlike RB had to draw more appeal than Ginn, an up and down home run threat who has been left out of the game plan entirely more than once. The Swag get some piece of mind, finally having two RBs that are assured of a role, while Flint has a player to cover for the imminent one-two bye week punch of Dez Bryant and Golden Tate going for breathers. A low risk, moderate reward swapping of depth for need, that will have ramifications on both team's playoff pushes. Both are currently on the outside looking in.
