Trade Review: Pity the Fole

Trade Twenty-Two: Hill Valley/Silver City

The McFlys have suffered a rash of inhospitable losses: Reggie Wayne, Justin Blackmon, and now the crown jewel, Aaron Rodgers, out 4-6 weeks with a broken collarbone. In his stead, Hill Valley acquired QB Nick Foles (dropping Eli Manning and exposing Mike Verrino as a closet Eagles fan) fresh off his 7 TD performance. Foles was just keeping the seat warm for Peyton Manning in the Silver City, and was eminently available. The haul: Defensive back Aaron Williams and WR Darrius Heyward-Bey. Which would have been a solid haul for Foles- that they also gave up WR Steve Smith is mystifying. DHB is an obvious downgrade from the grizzled vet, and while Smith is not the WR1 he was in his prime, he should be a serviceable flex down the stretch for Hill Valley. Aaron Williams has dual eligibility at cornerback and safety- he is best utilized as a safe weekly option at CB. If he can be a reliable contributor at the most volatile position, it will go a long way towards validating SCFC.
