Trade Thirty: Phoenix/Chicago
On the eve of the deadline, Phoenix acquired RB Brian Leonard and flipped him to Chicago for RB Ryan Mathews. Mathews started the season with the Uprising, before being bundled up and sent to Chicago in exchange for Eddie Lacy. He returns to Phoenix, (where he was a part of their 2010 and 2011 championship runs) at the turning of the tide: With eight wins, Phoenix has basically clinched a playoff spot, and is busy shoring up depth options. Chicago gets a versatile RB who can do a little bit of everything, is playing for his collegiate coach, and has inherited a major role due to injuries.
