IX: Week Thirteen Results

No surprises in the regular season finale:
The standings are settled, the seedings determined.

  1.  Deputy Van Halens 10-3*†
  2.  Phoenix Uprising 9-4*†
  3.  Savannah Petes 9-4*
  4.  New York's Finest 9-4*
  5.  HCM Lead Farmers 8-5*
  6.  Binghamton Snipers 7-6*
  7.  Pawnee Pride 7-6
  8.  South Park Cows 6-7
  9.  Hill Valley McFlys 6-7
  10.  Philadelphia Rum Ham 6-7
  11.  Mar-A-Lago Grabber 5-8
  12.  Oakwood Drivers 4-9
  13.  Toronto LTP 3-10
  14.  Manitoba Moosecrew 3-10

Deputy backs into the playoffs, dropping each of their last two games- but with the top seed sewn up, neither mattered to them at all. They'll still have to win their semifinal matchup (a week away) without Zeke Elliot, but Alfred Morris has looked like a capable replacement.

Phoenix stormed back from an 0-3 start to go 9-1 in their final ten games. They'll hope to get Aaron Rodgers under center for their two playoff games: He'll be their eighth quarterback on the year. With a deep roster, the team will have two weeks to evaluate who to deploy.

Savannah and New York both finish strong, each winning four of five: The Petes scored over 200 over that span (and 189 in their only loss during that time) while New York went over 185 in all five, eclipsing 200 in two straight. HCM City and Binghamton both finish with lesser records but more points overall- the 'low' seeds in the bracket are actually third and first overall in total points. The Snipers are showing shades of the team they replaced: The Revis Islanders went 7-6 despite leading the league in points in their inaugural 2012 season and ended up winning LBIV that year.

Pawnee is on the outside looking in at 7-6; A winning season but a step back after campaigns of 10-3 and 8-5. They scored 6th most on the year (better than #4 seed New York) but a mid season swoon (they scored under 170 five weeks in a row) and two single digit losses (wk 5 to HCM and wk 6 to HVM) keep them out. Along with LBVII champion South Park they're guaranteed a top four pick in next year's draft and will have a week to reflect upon what could have been.

LBVIII champion Hill Valley rounded into form late- too late to save their season and defend their trophy, but looking prime for their third consolation bracket win in four years. Philadelphia, Mar-A-Lago, and Oakwood will also have chances to improve their 2018 stake; Toronto and Manitoba will not. Their seasons are over.

SCOREBOARD:

Week 13 Matchups

POWER OUTPUT:

  1. HCM 240: The franchise's third time scoring more than 240 but less than the 245 required to stay on the all time high score list. This team doesn't care, it wants blood- and championships.
  2. BIN 235: A tough (but ultimately meaningless) loss, the Snipers have overcome a ton of adversity in their first season to score a berth in the playoffs. Now the real work begins.
  3. NYF 215: Some low scoring wins may have punched this team's ticket, but they've shown they're a legitimate contender down the stretch, with a great opportunity to add to hardware.
  4. HVM 212: The McFlys will cede the trophy in three weeks, but a strong finish shows this is a down season not a downturn for the franchise. They'll be back with a vengeance.
  5. SAV 210: Another sterling showing from the Petes, who responded strongly to a disastrous 112 point effort in week one and shrugged off back to back midseason losses to finish third.
  6. DVH 194: A fine showing in a matchup that didn't matter to them, the Van Halens will get Michael Crabtree back from suspension and hope to keep everyone healthy in the interim.
  7. PHX 186: A win is a win, but the team has seen its linebacking corps take some hits in the late season- they'll hope the week off gives Ryan Shazier time to recuperate and return.
  8. MAL 185: Nice optics here, the Grabbers closing with a quality effort and gearing up for the consolation bracket; The nomad franchise is likely to be on the move again next year.
  9. PAW 179: They needed a record breaking performance and they got a... performance. A winning season is a feather in their cap, just not the one they wanted after two top four finishes.
  10. SPC 176: The Cows' championship hangover stretches to two years, although two losses by less than two points drive that narrative. This was a good team with some bad breaks.
  11. RUM 172: Another coulda woulda shoulda squad, The Rum Ham's midseason resurgence was quelled and died meekly on a three game slide. They'll have a chance to rebound.
  12. MMC 167: No games over 200 points, it just wasn't in the cards for the Moosecrew in 2017 from the get-go. They'll have a chance to right the ship next year.
  13. LTP 156: Four years of respectability took a nosedive last year, and 2017 hit bottom. The team did little to help itself during a five week suck-fest.
  14. OAK 142: Another year, same old Drivers. A respectable 4-3 start caught fire and burned for six long weeks, an agonizing death for a once promising season.
