The Phoenix Uprising will face-off against the HCM City Lead Farmers.
HCM won their annual matchup this year, 208.82-143.39, in what was the Uprising's worst performance of the year and the middle game of an 0-3 start. Overall the All-Time record is 7-3 in favor of Phoenix, including a win in their one previous playoff matchup in 2010. However, the Lead Farmers have won two of the team's past three matchups and have outscored them on the year.
Week 15 Matchups
#5 HCM CITY defeats #1 DEPUTY
Perhaps Deputy closing the season with a pair of losses should have been an ominous sign, or that the team failed to eclipse 200 in the month leading up to the semifinal- but the most problematic development traces back to November 5th, when Zeke Elliot scored a final desperate stay on his suspension. If he had started the discipline a week earlier we'd have been treated to a premier matchup here- instead Le'Veon Bell was the story, his output the difference between the two teams. HCM had nice games from Rob Gronkowski and Tyreek Hill as well, while Wesley Woodyard led a strong defensive effort. Deputy's reiforcements Quandre Diggs and Robbie Gould were inspired choices; CJ Mosley and the defense did their part. But the offense looked listless and bland, with Michael Crabtree the only impact player to speak of.
OPotG: HCM RB Le'Veon Bell: 29 touches, 165 total yards, TD (29.4 pts)
DPotG: DVH SS Quandre Diggs: 3 tackles, 2 PD, Sack, TFL, INT (22.5 pts)
#2 PHOENIX defeats #3 SAVANNAH
It all came down to the final drive, and Uprising Safety Keanu Neal proved able to keep Savannah's Julio Jones in check. Both teams had eerie disappearance from key player: Pete Captain Luke Kuechly was quiet, while Phoenix tight end Jimmy Graham was almost non-existent. The teams were evenly matched up and down the board, with a few points swinging each way: Christian McCaffrey was a little bit better than Kenyan Drake; Aaron Donald was a little bit better than Khalil Mack; Marcus Peters was a bit more elite than Darius Slay, Samaje Perine was less mediocre than LaGarrette Blount. The difference ended up being the Phoenix linebackers and safeties outworking the Savannah groups by just enough to get the win.
OPotG: SAV RB Christian McCaffrey: 18 touches, 136 yards, TD (26.5 pts)
DPotG: PHX CB Marcus Peters: 3 tackles, 3 PD, 2 INT, FF (32.2 pts)
#6 BINGHAMTON defeats #4 NEW YORK
Both teams showed up for their consolation game, but Binghamton ultimately flashed the potential they showed all year, putting up the week's highest score just a week too late. They clinch fifth place in their first campaign, and will draft ninth in their sophomore season. New York finishes sixth and drafts tenth next August.
OPotG: NYF RB Todd Gurley: 24 touches, 180 yards, 4 TD (49.3 pts)
DPotG: BIN DE Calais Campbell: 5 tackles, 2 TFL, 2 Sacks, PD (22.5 pts)
In the consolation bracket we see Oakwood finish in eleventh and Philadelphia twelfth; They'll draft fifth and sixth (respectively) next year. Pawnee and South Park meet in another rematch of LBVII, this time playing for the first overall pick in 2018, while Hill Valley and Mar-A-Lago will play to determine the third and fourth pick in next year's draft.
#7 SOUTH PARK defeats #11 MAR-A-LAGO
