Trade 6: Brass Tacks, Gentlemen

The Larkspur Bowl is on pace for only eleven trades this year, which would be the third least in league history. In 2009 there was only a single trade, and 2010 saw nine such transactions. After that the number went up to 14 in 2011, 19 in 2012, then peaked in 2013 when we saw 29 trades finalized. Since then the number has come down to 23 in 2014 and 20 in 2013, still roughly double this year's exchange rate. Today's move will bolster that number, but is unlikely to have a major impact on the standings.

PAWNEE ACQUIRES:
  • WR Nelson Agholor
PHOENIX ACQUIRES:
  • WR Vincent Jackson
Pawnee was in need of a WR for week six, and will roll the dice on Agholor, a starter that plays a full medley of snaps and has the pedigree of a 2015 first round pick. He's done little to maximize his potential to date, corralling just 13 of his 22 targets- but you could do far worse with a weekly plug-in, and there's the chance that a light will come on in the next few weeks and he matures into an asset for the Pride. The Pride traded for V-Jax earlier this season, acquiring him from South Park for Spencer Ware; He played three games with Pawnee, catching ten balls for 117 yards.

For the second year in a row, Phoenix has put together a group of four elite talents at WR, and then failed to get them on the field together. The plan was to split out Dez Bryant, Jarvis Landry, Stefon Diggs, and Josh Gordon; Dez has missed the past two weeks, Diggs missed last week, and on the cusp of returning from a four week suspension, Josh Gordon returned to rehab, uncertain to return to the field at any point. Vincent Jackson has seen his targets scaled back and his role reduced to 6'5" possession receiver. With the upcoming bye week, the Uprising have to be planning on a gameplan adjustment that better utilizes the twelve year veteran's talents, especially in the red zone. Both Diggs and Dez are at least a week or two away from returning, so the team is limiting their bench for week 6.
