2013 Oakwood Drivers

Oakwood's terrible debut in the Larkspur Bowl was balanced out by some late season flourish, as the team went 3-3 in its final six through pure grit and determination. The gates were a hurdle for the Drivers, but Tom Acquisto's pedigree as a quality manager shined through, and now that he is acclimated I anticipate a much better sophomore showcase, that starts with the #4 pick in this year's draft.

2013 FINAL ROSTER

Team Owner: Tom Acquisto

Hometown: Oakwood, Texas

2013 Record: 5-8
2014 Draft Position: 4th

Week 12: 14. Oakwood 4-8 1610.71
Oakwood made themselves respectable, even if their early going misfortune locked them in the cellar. It's unlikely they will get an opportunity to battle for top pick, instead locking into the middle of the first round, which should lend itself to a more balanced team next year. It was an impressive bit of managing to rebound like this, and their Foster trade will end up being the biggest windfall of this year's thirty coop transactions, boding well for 2014.

Week 9: 14. Oakwood 3-6 1189.25
Don't look now, the Drivers have won two straight, and after Silver City this week, face three teams with losing records. If they go on a six game winning streak and get into the dance, it will be a credit to selling high on crippled RB Arian Foster, netting underperforming Hakeem Nicks and consistent veteran Fred Jackson. After a stumble out of the gates (with the worst draft since the abomination that was the 2010 Frisco Uglies) Oakwood has done a very solid job putting together a quietly competent team. If they fail to win six straight, they can still give themselves a good shot at a nice draft pick by blasting through the consolation bowl.

Week 6: 14. Oakwood 1-5 812.91
The Drivers can only afford one more loss if they want to nurse pitch black horse playoff aspirations; They've made some wholesale changes to pad out their team's lineup with respectable names. It's a long shot, but it was always going to be when the second and third RBs (Michael Turner and Mikel LeShoure) they drafted still don't have 1.0 fantasy points between them, and the fourth and fifth RBs they drafted (Danny Woodhead and Willis McGahee) didn't start scoring until they left Oakwood. Of Oakwood's top ten picks, only four are still with the team, only two are starting, and one of those is the kicker. Congratulations Eric Decker, team MVP.

Week 3: 14. Oakwood  0-3 374.21

Oakwood's has a cast of roleplayers that do their jobs well, but have limited upside- Almost all of their players are in platoons or committees  and few are the high man on their respective totem pole. Eric Decker has had two big weeks in a row, Sidney Rice and Donnie Avery one- All three will need to cement themselves as playmakers going forward to give the Drivers a chance this season. Their RBs can be dependable, and Russell Wilson is a sterling decision maker- if he is allowed to light it up, there may be hope for the Drivers yet.

2013 Season Preview

The Oakwood Drivers made the jump to the big leagues this year, and look to prove they belong. With the second overall pick in the draft, this team has an opportunity to do what California did last year: Join the league and win it in one fell swoop of a debut.
