2013 Bristol Executioners

Bristol's first time live drafting resulted in their worst record to date. We'll see if Vincent Milillo repeats the strategy with the second pick in the draft, or returns to the tried and true method of trusting Yahoo! and then piecing together a strong defense from the leftovers. As the league has gotten better at identifying quality IDPs, I think this team's success will depend on strong, active draft day.

2013 FINAL ROSTER

Team Owner: Vincent Milillo
Hometown: Bristol, Connecticut
2013 Record: 5-8
2014 Draft Position: 2nd

Week 12: 12. Bristol 4-8 1665.70
The Executioners underachieved through the middle of the season, and now need to drop the number one Uprising to get into the consolation bracket. With well chronicled derision for the draft undermining their compulsion, this week's season ender is a strictly personal grudge match; Since Phoenix beat Bristol in the last second of the 2011 Semis, they are only 11-17 combined. Ugg. (Tom Brady wears them.)

Week 9: 12. Bristol 2-7 1245.27
Bristol's roster has been ravaged by minor injuries, a bunch of players playing through aches and pains that haven't always kept them off the field, but have kept them operating below their typical output. The season is mostly lost, (six straight will do that) but a strong back end will give the executioners a nice shot at clinching a top draft pick for next year, perhaps luring them back to the draft table for a second time, after dodging it during their first several years in the league.

Week 6: 9. Bristol 2-4 904.11
The Executioners have dropped three straight, their WRs letting them down in a big way. Larry Fitzgerald has been hobbled, Marques Colston has been nearly invisible, and recent departures Marlon Brown and Austin Pettis regressed after productive weeks. Tom Brady has not been able to play savior, and DeMarco Murray went down injured, leaving Jamaal Charles the only playmaker left. Obviously, he cannot produce on his own- If the team can grit it out and end the skid, their players are likely to return to form down the stretch. If not, they may look to shake things up and make some power moves.

Week 3: 7. Bristol  2-1 493.92

The Executioners don't carry a lot of depth, preferring a week to week approach, utilizing their flexible roster to play optimal matchups. It is an approach that has brought them a good deal of success in the past, and their modus operandi is unlikely to change dramatically- Why fix what ain't broke? If Tom Brady begins to gel with his WRs, this team has electric RBs and veteran moxie at WR, plus a legendary penchant for creative defensive solutions. I regret forecasting a mediocre season for the 2011 Bronze Medalist.

2013 Season Preview

The Executioners have one elite year sandwiched between two more pedestrian efforts, but have shown that they are a steady and adaptable force on the gridiron. Now entering their fourth year in the Larkspur Football League, the team from Bristol has taken a new approach, utilizing the draft for the first time.
