TRADE 16: The Chosen One, Cousin

Another day, another quarterback in Phoenix, while Mar-A-Lago grabs the Bilal Powell

MAR-A-LAGO ACQUIRES: RB BILAL POWELL
PHOENIX ACQUIRES: QB KIRK COUSINS

Bilal means 'The Chosen One' in Arabic, but don't tell that to the locals in Mar-A-Lago. Instead, just let them be content with the acquisition of a RB who has shown a good floor and a huge ceiling. When Powell is free of his timeshare, he's been a beast; With a snapcount, he's still shown a propensity for big plays. Joining his battery-mate Matt Forte in Florida, the team hedges its bets: if one goes down, the other benefits. With Orleans Darkwa and a recuperating CJ Anderson on the roster, the Grabbers have a lot of upside at the position. It will come down to deploying the right weapon at the right time, and with some luck, roles will be clarified sooner rather than later. Sending Cousins away cements Matt Stafford as the franchise quarterback after Cousins had replaced Cam Newton in that role earlier this season.

The Uprising's carousel behind center spins on: They're onto their seventh field general, moving from Andy Dalton to Alex Smith to Carson Palmer to Jared Goff to Deshaun Watson to Derek Carr, and now Cousins, with the hope of transitioning to Aaron Rodgers in the post season. The Cousins acquisition was necessitated by Carr's bye week- now the team will hold two QBs with ten days to go before the trade deadline. Cousins has been on a downtrend in recent weeks, but has thrown 30 times or more in six of eight games, and retains quiet upside. He'll get the week audition to replace Carr, who lost in his Phoenix Debut.
