HCM City has reportedly lost their second round pick (and top receiving threat) Jordy Nelson to a torn ACL. He's the second top pick to go down and out for the season on the young season, after the Deputy Van Halens lost Kelvin Benjamin in a similar (non contact) scenario. We're still eighteen days from kickoff, and the calls for the draft to occur later in August are being heard. The Commissioner has announced that the 2016 draft will tentatively be scheduled for ten to fourteen days before the regular season opener- little solace for teams that are already shorthanded this year.
Injuries happen, but they're especially heartbreaking when a player has not even been able to suit up for a single regulation snap. It will be interesting to see how each team recovers, and what other stars are vulnerable. Defending champion New York's Finest seem to be the most obvious beneficiary, as their WR Davante Adams should be the beneficiary of many of Jordy Nelson's targets. How it impacts their QB Aaron Rodgers has yet to be determined:
Meanwhile, Pawnee, Hill Valley and Liberal HT have responded by signing WR Ty Montgomery, WR Jeff Janis and TE Richard Rodgers, respectively. This could be the McFly's second time capitalizing on a post-torn-ACL target vacuum, though Janis is even rawer than WR Devin Funchess by all accounts. Also, potentially seeing better quality throws... but I digress.
Erstwhile, Reggie Wayne left Phoenix without a deal, only to be snapped up by Savannah with some new prospects. Look for Pierre Thomas to do the same thing, as the Uprising lead the league in poorly thought out moves, with six in seven days.
