Trades 7 & 8 Gameday Downsizing

Pawnee pulled off back to back deals Sunday morning, turning four players into two to start the week, before pulling off a nailbiter victory over the South Park Cows, pending stat corrections. Lets see what they did.

PHILADELPHIA ACQUIRES: WR COREY DAVIS & RB LA'MICAL PERINE

CARMEL ACQUIRES: WR AJ GREEN & WR BRANDON AIYUK

PAWNEE ACQUIRES: WR JAMISON CROWDER & WR JULIAN EDELMAN

Both the Rum Ham and Rudy-Tuesdays received a pair of Pawnee's Pride, while Pawnee takes Edelman from the Rum Ham and Crowder from the Rudy-Tuesdays. It's the traditional depth for upside play with a pair of scuffling bottom feeders filling out their roster and the defending champ (despite a somewhat lackluster start to the season) getting the best player in each deal- maybe.

Julian Edelman has struggled to date while Corey Davis has been a double digit performer in every game he's played; Pawnee must have felt like this was a sell high opportunity on the 291st pick in the draft, while buying low on Edelman who went 219 picks later. Game one after the deal, advantage Philadelphia.

That the Rum Ham also added a potential starting running back looked like gravy, but the team dropped him after the game despite a 16.2 point showcase and only the ageless Frank Gore around to compete for carries. It's confusing- perhaps Philly only wanted Davis and took Perine to facilitate the deal, but there was no harm in holding him through the waiver period, at least. Maybe he's dropping him to bait the wire into misdirection?

Carmel adds two WRs on opposite ends of the spectrum- the veteran AJ Green, an elite wideout for so many years, and Brandon Aiyuk the explosive young rookie who is making a name for himself. With Green there's the idea that once he shakes the rust off there might still be some magic in that old silk hat they found, that there's still upside. With Aiyuk the upside is obvious but the typical rookie pitfalls of game plan afterthought are enough to make a manager wary. Crowder sort of split the middle, with a higher floor than Aiyuk and a higher ceiling than Green, although his bugaboo remains good health, as he has seen double digit targets in the four games he has played, but has missed three games as well.

All told... tough to declare a winner in these deals right now. Could be three winners, could be three losers.
