Following the late waiver period we saw a blockbuster deal go down, as Carmel moves their crown jewel for much needed reinforcements. It's a solid deal- but perhaps one that might have fetched a higher price if a trade block sweepstakes invitation was invoked. Competition drives the market!
HILL VALLEY ACQUIRES WR DK METCALF & RB RAHEEM MOSTERT
CARMEL ACQUIRES WR JAMISON CROWDER, WR JERRY JEUDY, & RB JAMES ROBINSON
The McFlys get Metcalf, who is being discussed as potentially seizing the WR1 crown after a run of dominant performances; They also acquire Mostert, who has delivered double digits in the three games he was healthy enough to play in. It's a major upgrade even for a team that might have already boasted the best WR group in the league- except in one way: Metcalf is on bye in week 6 and the Rudy-Toos play the McFlys, weaponizing the week off in a matchup that is bordering on must-win for the previously winless squad. Hill Valley can take an L if necessary as they trot out Julio, Amari, DK as their big three the rest of the way- an indisputable dominant trio.
For Carmel, these are three every week starters- and not bottom of the barrel options, either. There's credibility to the idea that this would have been the best offer Carmel would have gotten even if they had opened up the auction to all twelve other teams, with the previously mentioned bye week poison pill either shrewd weekly management or a serendipitous coincidence. The Rudy Toos are better this week and moving forward for the deal, with Crowder performing as a WR1 in all three games he has played this year, James Robinson a bonafide RB1/2, and Jeudy a WR3 with upside and a bye week in the rearview.
