Before bringing our focus to the season at hand, lets bring up four motions up for vote in advance of next season. If any of the following motions pass by popular vote (minimum of ten votes cast) they will go into effect one year from now, for the 2019 Larkspur Bowl XI season.
MOTION A: DRAFT PICK SELECTION
Teams can select their draft position based on their previous year's finish. The order of selection would remain the same: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 5, 6, 3, 4, 2, 1. Rather than being locked into the highest spot available to them, teams could choose their draft slot. The selection process would be one month BEFORE the next season's draft, initiated by the commissioner. Anyone that failed to communicate their selection in a timely manner would default to the highest slot available to them.
(Proposed by Savannah Petes & Philadelphia Rum Ham)
Do you want to select your draft pick position for Larkspur Bowl XI?
- YES: Give teams the ability to select their draft position
- NO: Hard line teams into the best draft position available to them
MOTION B: KEEPERS & AUCTION DRAFT
The 2019 Draft would, for one year only, be an auction draft, where by every team has an equal chance to select every player, with teams bidding on their players from an equal currency reserve. Teams would then designate either 3, 5, or 7 keepers (the number of keepers would be determined by a subsequent vote) in advance of the following year's drafts. The 2020 draft would return to a serpentine redraft system, with a team's earliest picks being used for their allotment of keepers. Draft picks would become tradeable in 2020, and keepers would continue henceforth. The number of keepers could be adjusted year to year via vote or a parity based commissioner decision.
(Proposed by HCM City & Phoenix Uprising)
Do you want to institute keepers via an Auction draft for Larkspur Bowl XI?
- YES: Lets liven the league up with keepers
- NO: If it ain't broke don't fix it, full redraft has worked for a decade
MOTION C: CASH REWARD
For the 2019 season a buy-in fee would be instituted, to incentivize the league and reward the winner with cash. The prize structure and total buy-in would be voted on in a subsequent vote, but in year one would not exceed a $20 buy-in per team. Future years could see the buy-in increased or decreased in the future, if favored by a majority of league members, as determined by vote.
(Proposed by Hill Valley McFlys like a hundred times)
Do you want to add a buy-in (max $20) for Larkspur Bowl XI?
- YES: Lets put a little wager down and sweeten the pot
- NO: Play for the love of the game
MOTION D: EXPANSION
Should the league consider expanding to sixteen teams, the league would divide into two eight team divisions. The regular season would expand to fourteen weeks, with every team playing the seven teams in their division twice in each season. Four teams would make the playoffs, with each division winner clinching a berth, and the two teams with the next best record (regardless of division) making the playoffs. Head to head record would be first tie-breaker, followed by total points. In each subsequent year, the top eight teams from the previous year would make up one division, while the bottom eight teams would make up the other division.
Do you want to consider expansion (to 16 teams) for Larkspur Bowl XI?
- YES: The more the merrier!
- NO: I like playing every team every year and having six playoff teams
Polls will be affixed to the facebook group as soon as I get an opportunity to make them. Discussion is welcome, voting will go all week, and changing your mind is allowed. Votes will be final upon the start of the LBX draft.
