Two brackets of six are set for three more weeks of action.
One for the glory of the Larkspur Bowl trophy!
The other a sweepstakes for 2016's draft order.
Two teams have seen their 2015 Larkspur Bowl season end.
Lets take a look at a wild final week that came down to the very last play before determining the #6 seed.
Week 13 Matchups
THE LARKSPUR BOWL:
- New York's Finest (12-1) have been by far the best team in the league since Week 5 of 2014, going an incredible 23-2 in that span. They only went below 172pts once in 2015.
BYE WEEK HEALTH: Tyler Eifert is still recovering, though Julius Thomas eases the blow. - Phoenix Uprising (9-4) are backing into the playoffs, doubling their loss total in the final two weeks. The Uprising have between 8 and 10 wins six years in a row.
BYE WEEK HEALTH: Getting Gronk, Harrison Smith, and Stevie Johnson back healthy. - Pawnee Pride (8-5) roared down the stretch, and have perhaps the best offense in the league. Their chances will hinge on if their defense can be adequate enough.
QUARTERFINAL X-FACTOR: QB Russell Wilson - Revis Islanders (8-5) the 2012 champs got it done with a well balanced attack, and pose a considerable threat to any team in the playoff bracket.
QUARTERFINAL X-FACTOR: S Kurt Coleman - South Park Cows (7-6) stumbled a bit mid season but recovered in time to take the five spot and look formidable about it.
QUARTERFINAL X-FACTOR: TE Richard Rodgers - Toronto LTP (7-6) got in by the skin of their teeth, losing but clinching the last spot anyway, salted by a last second TD by DeSean Jackson, his third straight game with a score.
QUARTERFINAL X-FACTOR: WR DeSean Jackson
THE CONSOLATION BOWL:
- 7. Hill Valley McFlys (7-6) They hung in there right until the end, and know their season came down to a handful of roster decisions. They'll have to compete for the top pick again.
FATAL FLAW: Dropping Devonta Freeman - 8. Saskatoon Sasquatch (6-7) Playing Latavius Murray or Torrey Smith or Mike Adams in Week 13 would have meant a playoff birth. Ruminate on that for a moment.
FATAL FLAW: Loyalty to Matt Ryan - 9. Manitoba Moosecrew (6-7) Can be proud of their season, at the end of the day; Drafted well and stuck with their guys, finished in the middle of the pack.
FATAL FLAW: Not selling high on Andre Johnson - 10. HCM Lead Farmers (5-8) 2015 was an eerie sequel of 2014, where the team started so slow, a furious finish was not enough to get out of their early hole.
FATAL FLAW: Relying on DeMarco Murray on a weekly basis - 11. Deputy Van Halens (5-8) They lost to all three Canadian teams, in succession, in the last month of the Season. There goes the season!
FATAL FLAW: Calais Campbell scored double digits twice in twelve tries - 12. Savannah Petes (4-9) All told, it is pretty impressive that they scrambled into the consolation bowl after the injuries and ineptitude they suffered.
FATAL FLAW: Trading Luke Kuechly and Stevie Johnson when they did.
THE GREAT BEYOND:
- 13. Liberal Head Trauma (4-9) After a moribund start where they lost five in a row to mediocre competition, HT kicked it up a notch midseason, winning four of five before the wheels fell off and the team tumbled off a cliff.
DEATH KNELL: Foster's injury after Lamar's departure, and Fat Eddie and Spiller's combined suck turned what appeared to be an excellent RB corps into a burning, stinking tire fire. - 14. Oakwood Drivers (3-10) The team looked formidable early, and there were three glorious wins in a row. An island of victory in a vast sea of defeat. Gio Bernard delivered,
DEATH KNELL: The ravages of time on Peyton Manning, the ravages of suspension then injury on LeVeon Bell.
OPotW: WR Allen Robinson, HCM Lead Farmers (44.7pts)
After a quiet week one, sophomore WR Allen Robinson exploded into on of the premier WRs in the league, with non stop excellence the rest of the way. In Week thirteen he gave his finest effort yet, pulling in ten of fifteen targets for 153 yards, eight first downs, and three touchdowns. Can't teach big and fast. Can't stop it either.
DPotW: FS Malcolm Jenkins, HCM Lead Farmers (32.45pts)
Seven combined tackles (two for a loss) and a batted ball would be an incredible day for any player, a real credit to their team, and a deciding factor in their team's victory. Add in a pick six taken back the entire length of the field, and you have a defensive player of the week in Malcolm Jenkins.
PUotW: OLB Von Miller, Liberal HT (22pts)
Nearly a clean sweep for HCM, as LB Josh Mauga was superlative- but he's an ordinary talent compared to the Von, who can simply take over a game. What he did in week 13 was not enough to deliver a victory, but it was disruption at its finest: Four tackles (two sacks, two TFLs) a fumble forces, a fumble recovered, and a batted ball showcased his peerless destruction.
