New York and Phoenix made their second deal of the season, trading in anticipation of their week nine byes.
PHOENIX ACQUIRES:
WR Stevie Johnson
NEW YORK ACQUIRES:
LB Paul Worrilow
The Uprising were dealing with the deteriorating status of Keenan Allen when they made this trade. Their star WR suffered a lacerated kidney injury, and the team was ill equipped to replace him, with recent acquisition Jeremy Maclin on bye. While Johnson might have been seen as a short term stop gap, he'll be given the opportunity to inherit Allen's role: After the trade, Allen's 2015 officially came to an end with his gurney being wheeled to injured reserve.
For New York, Worrilow will start in week nine. After that, the #36 scoring linebacker to date will either be quality depth for Luke Kuechly, CJ Mosley, and Jamie Collins or a potential trade chip for addressing needs in the future. A tackle machine, Worrilow lacks the big play potential of the Finest's other linebackers, but would be a quality LB2 on most teams, offering a solid floor week in and week out.
