Week Thirteen Results

The final week of the regular season solidified the playoff picture; Three of last year's playoff teams are back in the dance (Phoenix, Toronto, and Indiana, who all scored at least one playoff win last year) and three new teams will get under the spotlight, as New York and M-Ville return, and South Park makes a run in its first go of it. Lets take a look:

Week 13 Matchups

In the season's final week, this was the only matchup between playoff bound teams. The brothers Grimes staged a true slobberknocker, with both teams going over 200 points. The Uprising (10-3) ended up getting the W on Monday Night, and in doing so, the defending champions claimed the top spot of the bracket. The Parrots (7-6) did not truly back in- this was their second best effort of the season, and something to build off of.

The Turbanators (7-6) flirted with dropping out of the playoffs, losing three straight before banging home the caboose with vigor. Their best game of the year might be a sneak peak on a team hitting their stride at the right time; their goliath is online, as Megatron showed that rumors of his demise were greatly mistaken- he still has the ability to dominate the game like no other WR in the league. Mike Evans is built in his image- the two of them are the key to the Turbanators championship run. Oakwood (5-8) finishes with the same record as they did in 2014, but has really shown an uncommon level of resiliency, and a knack for hanging in games late.

Pawnee (7-6) should be proud of their season. For the fourth time in five years, there will be no playoffs for them, but a winning record has their outlook trending upward. With a good push in the consolation bracket, they have the gumption and know how to put together a contender in 2015, after making the league's top half this year. Saskatoon (2-11) will have to get back to basics next year: they ought to be looking to try something new with the 8th pick in next year's draft.

Hill Valley (6-7) knew what it was doing all along, it just took a week or two too long for them to get it together. Nailbiting losses to both Grimes brothers are the obvious culprit for the McFlys first go-around from the outside looking in, but further inspection reveals weeks 8 and 9 as the team's achilles heel: Desperate to stay in the race, they failed to manage even 140 points in must win games, and put themselves behind the eight ball for the back end. Wouldn't want to face them in the consolation bracket though- but that's exactly what California (5-8) is going to do. After losing round one badly, the Swag get an opportunity to exact vengeance immediately, hoping to recreate their 2012 Larkspur Bowl Championship triumph.

New York (9-4) Became the league's most consistent team over the past nine weeks, going 8-1 down the stretch. Their tumultuous early month cost them a bye week, and they'll need to prove their mettle right away against Indiana in what promises to be a classic. They dispatched Manitoba (6-7) who settled into a very impressive rookie season, showing flashes of genius mid season that should set the bar high next year: Once they lock down their draft slot, we'll start to see the MooseCrew reach their full potential, given a chance to select their roster in 2015.

Oniontown (6-7) scored enough points this year to land fourth in the upcoming power rankings. But the cookie just didn't crumble their way in 2014, and they're left to sweeten their pot in the consolation bracket again this year- RB Jamaal Charles could earn a return to the Massacre if he stays healthy and leads them to the top of the draft board: He has been OT's top selection two years in a row. South Park (10-3) had an opportunity to score the ever elusive eleven win season (never accomplished in the Larkspur Bowl's six seasons) but opted to keep their roster playoff ready. They'll enjoy a bye week and wait for their next challenger to appear.

HCM Lead Farmers (4-9) took some flak this season, but after dominating three of their final four matchups, it appears the slow start was the aberration, and this team's true talent level was in the stratosphere. Alas, they don't have much to show for it: They're the league's sixth highest scoring team, but they won't make the consolation bowl, and will pick seventh in next year's draft. Toronto (7-6) made the playoffs by never losing two in a row, and if they can keep that trend going, they'll be into the semifinals.
