WR Markus Wheaton
Defending cellar dweller Pawnee moves their 6th and 7th pick for defending champion Phoenix's 16th and 17th pick; On the surface this would seem like a bad move, but one of the players headed to the Uprising is almost certain to be suspended for the season: superstar/toxic asset Josh Gordon. With his projections near zero, it's likely this is more of a two for one move, where Phoenix is getting noted underachiever Richardson in exchange for another disappointing RB, Darren McFadden. While Richardson has been an inefficient runner to date, McFadden's issues have been mostly healthy related over the years; Perhaps sharing duties will help him remain upright and electric. WR Markus Wheaton is the wildcard here- he's likely to outscore Gordon, by virtue of touching the field, and could turn out to be one of the league's better flex options.

THE BIG MOCK
We're just over a month away from the Larkspur Bowl draft- the perfect time to mock a draft.
This draft utilized Yahoo!'s standard rankings (as of today) to determine picks. The only additional parameters were a cap at two RBs and two WRs; No defensive players were selected. Players were then attributed directly in sequence. This is NOT meant to simulate individual drafting strategies, just a way to see how teams might shake out on draft day.

Right off the bat we expect to see divergence from this script, as New York has made no secret that they intend to take a QB overall, specifically Peyton Manning. Whether that ends up to be a blustery ruse or their actual intentions, they hold the keys to the draft, and should be able to initiate positional runs throughout the draft. Their mock roster has a lot of upside; Allen and Cameron broke out with the Champion Uprising last year and along with Hilton, look to build on their success. CJ Spiller will look to rebound from a disappointing 2013, still possessing elite upside. If Charles stays healthy, there's no reason he won't live up to a top draft pick.

Stafford will throw enough to make up for any liabilities- he's got a pretty high floor, because he's going to keep chucking it up. If this season is the one where it all comes together for him, he'd be a steal in the fourth round.

Vincent Jackson is sort of the blueprint for Michael Floyd, and both should see plenty of looks, especially in the red zone. The best laid plans tend to go awry, but this setup would lead to plenty of optimism in 2014.

Andrew Luck is a solid QB to anchor your team on- year three could see him enter his prime.

Even 80% of what he did in a partial season would translate to a value purchase in the fifth round.

Old Looks & New Looks
We have had some face lifts and relocations! I anticipate that there may be a few more before the draft. But to maintain everybody's bearings, here's the rundown:
Steve Grimes' Chicago Bears have become the Margaritaville Parrots.
They move on from their Bipolar moniker:

Silver City FC couldn't settle for bronze, so Ajay Patel moved to them to become the Indiana Turbanators.

2013 Phoenix Uprising
The Uprising won their third championship in four years in 2013, picking up momentum mid season and riding it all the way through to the end. After three straight years of rating penultimate in total points, they took pole position by well over a hundred. Now they will have to try to repeat from the 14th and final slot on the draft board, picking on the turn. 2013 Hill Valley McFlys
For the second year in a row, the McFlys went home from the Larkspur Bowl heartbroken. Nobody has won more regular season games over the past three seasons than Mike Verrino's club (28-11 record over that span) but they have been unable to get over the hump, going down in the playoffs every year since their inception. They have shown the skill and shrewdness to win, now they just need some luck; perhaps drafting 13th will counter their curse.

The McFlys have shrugged off adversity, broken the 2,000 point plateau, and could clinch the #2 seed with a win, and some help from Silver City. Nick Foles has been a revealation, and might retain his starter's role if he can keep slinging it with perfection. A bye week would be a huge advantage for informing their decision behind center, as they would have a week to audition Rodger's health before having to make a call with all the chips on the table.

It's been a cursed season for the McFlys, with Reggie Wayne and Justin Blackmon out for the season, and Aaron Rodgers and Arian Foster perhaps joining them on injured reserve. Each loss came on the heels of upgrade trades that sapped Hill Valley's depth. And yet, shrewd moves keep the team on the cusp, hanging around and refusing to give up. It's the sort of survivor's story that can buoy a team and make them more than the sum of their parts- plenty of their young players have not yet reached their limits, and could push the parameters of their potential. Hill Valley needs that now.

Josh Gordon and Justin Blackmon are the keys- if they maintain their early returns, this team is a juggernaut, bitch.

Hill Valley's robust trading resume grew again today, as he spun off a 3 for 3 that I'll review shortly. His team has amassed a glut of dependable WR2s (Nicks, V-Jax, Wayne, Gordon, Hartline) and high upside WR3s (Blackmon, Broyles) that has severely impeded his ability to deal with early onset bye weeks. Look for aggressive shopping, as the LFL's Ari Gold tries to turn his quanitity into quality- a 2 for 1 could give a scuffling team much needed depth. The team's RB duo of Sproles and Rice should start every week they are capable; Fred Jackson and Law Firm provide solid, if unexciting depth. Aaron Rodgers rounds out a roster that will score way more than it has so far.
