XII: Week Thirteen Recap

The Season is over! Half the league finished with a winning record, which left one team out in the cold when the playoffs came- the Larkspur Bowl XI champion Pawnee Pride are the odd man, their defense of the silver chalice is over and in a few weeks they will have to surrender it.

The top two seeds are new to the bye week; #1 HCM City has been in the playoffs in two of the last three years (advancing as far as the LBIX final) but had to battle through the wild card round each time. In their second season #2 Jersey is in their first playoff campaign, and will need just two wins to seize glory. 

#3 Hill Valley loses their long assured bye week by the slimmest of margins, and now will have to battle the #6 Binghamton Snipers in the first round; #4 Phoenix returns to the playoffs after a one year layoff and will see a familiar foe in the #5 Manitoba Moosecrew. The two played each other this past week to conclude the regular season.

XIIL Playoff Scenarios

 We're in the End Game here. Here are the most likely scenarios left:

Pawnee would need a win, Binghamton and Mar-A-Lago losses, and to surpass the Sniper's point total to grab the six seed. At current, they have a 22.39 deficit to make up in the waning moments of week thirteen.

XII: Week Twelve Recap

We have reached the final week of the regular season! Four teams have clinched playoff spots and will squabble for byes: HCM City and Hill Valley have the edge at 9-3, and with wins this week can rest assured their week 14s will be without tension. At 8-4 New Jersey has a path to the bye but it goes through both teams- they would need to defeat the Lead Farms and see the McFlys lose to nail down a top two seed. Meanwhile Manitoba is in but at 8-4 they will be playing in week 14, could finish anywhere from #3 to #6. With wins Phoenix and Binghamton will be in, but either team could fumble their spot to give Mar-A-Lago or the defending champion Pawnee Pride an in. 

Pawnee's lackluster season may forego a playoff spot, but they're not going down without a fight; THey put up a huge 299.2 score that is good for 4th all-time (and pending stat corrections, the third time a team got to 299 without breaking 300) but is likely to little too late to supplant Mar-A-Lago or Phoenix on tiebreak. Still, I'm saying there's a chance.

Everyone else has been eliminated from contending for LBXII, including the current points leader, the South Park Cows. In six of the team's seven losses their opponents scored 249, 266, 231, 234, 234, and 217 yesterday from an equally desperate Sniper squad. Their other loss saw them fall to the Pride 175-174 in week seven. A single point there and South Park at 6-6 would just need to defeat Carmel this week and see Phoenix or Binghamton fall to make a run. Alas, it is not to be.

Streaky Ohio is also eliminated, although, like the Cows, they have a ticket to the consolation bracket in hand. Carmel and Deputy both control their own destinies on getting the the draft selection stage at 4-8, while Savannah and South Philly would both need to win (and score a lot of points) to play beyond this week.

UPCOMING MATCHUPS

The big game is Jersey and HCM City, a clash of Titans that might be repeated in the next few weeks. After that, playoff bound Hill Valley sees a desperate Pawnee Squad, while Manitoba and Phoenix jostle for seeding. The Uprising could fall out of the playoffs with a loss, wins by Binghamton and Mar-A-Lago, and the latter outscoring them by ~36+ pending stat corrections. The Snipers' hold on the six seed is more tenuous, win and in, but a loss open the door for Mar-A-Lago or Pawnee to surge past them. The Grabbers draw the 14th ranked Rum Ham to close the season; Assuming they can take care of business, they'll be rooting hard for the Tommy Boys.

COVID-19 Rescheduling Update

Week Twelve has been the longest in NFL (and thus, Larkspur Bowl) History, with the games now set to be spread over a full six days. As long as this contingency holds and the PIT vs BAL game that was scheduled for 11/26 is played on its ultimate landing spot of 12/2, Week 12 will be definitive. If the game is postponed any further, it will be bumped out of week 12 and the schedule will be disrupted. Any PIT or BAL players that were in the starting lineups for their teams will be replaced by the highest scoring player eligible at the position on a team's bench, as previously indicated. 

Week Thirteen (the final week of the Larkspur Bowl regular season) has seen its schedule shift, with all of the games slated for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. With the delayed start to the week, waivers will be processed on FRIDAY 12/4 (rather than the typical Wednesday) with unclaimed players released to free agency at 3:00am EST that day.

Last Game of the Week Rule

Today's ruling (posted on the FB group and reiterated below) will replace the Week 5 Contingency whereby teams would designate replacement players in the event the final game of the week is postponed due to COVID-19. Instead if any players in the final game of the week are in your starting lineup and the game is CANCELED after all other games that week have begun, the players in your lineup will be replaced by the highest scoring position eligible player currently on your bench.

• If you do not have a backup at the position you are stuck with a zero.
• If the game is played and your player does not play (due to injury or covid or whatever) there will be no replacement
• If a game earlier in the week is postponed or canceled, players should be treated as injured, and subbed for manually.
• If a player is dropped before the Tuesday game they do not count as a replacement; they must remain on your roster through the end of the week.

This rule will be in effect for any MNF games, except in the case that a game has been postponed to Tuesday (or even Wednesday), such as this week's PIT v BAL game. I will do my best to alert the league when a game has superseded MNF as the LAST GAME OF THE WEEK; This rule will remain in effect through the end of the season.

For instance, if Pawnee has WR Chase Claypool in the WR/TE position and the game is canceled after 8:00pm EST on Monday, then whomever scores highest on his bench (TE Tyler Higbie or WR Richie James) would automatically replace him. If Claypool was in the WR slot, it would mean only WR Richie James is an option to replace him. If Richie James and Julian Edelman were both active and on his bench, the higher scorer would be subbed in.

REMINDER: With Bye weeks over, players set to participate in a game that is PPD are now eligible for IR through the remainder of the season.

McFlys drop the Rum Ham After All

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! 

Week 12 is underway, but upon further review, the results from week eleven have taken an adjustment:

Yahoo! issued a short statement regarding stat corrections not being finalized: We are aware of issues with week 11 stat corrections. Some stats including 2-point conversions failed to be correctly reflected in week 11 scoring. We're aware of this issue and will resolve it as soon as possible so all week 11 matchups are properly credited.

However, the gap between the two teams has expanded to nearly ten points, taking away most of the mystery- here's the full rundown where the Rum Ham had 16 tweaks (losing TFLs from Myles Jack and Neville Hewitt figure chiefly among the corrections) resulting in an astounding -14 to their final score while the McFlys' six changes only dropped them by 4.05.
